The Highest of the Highs

Hello, dear readers! I’m so happy to finally get back to blogging. God has been teaching me important lessons as I go through a wilderness of struggling. He has been greatly humbling to see things exactly as they are. I hope you enjoy this poem I wrote in the midst of this trial.

I am nothing

You are everything

I am the lowest of the lows.

You are the highest of the highs.

I cannot get close enough to the ground to express how low I feel

Because I’d really have to go deep in the earth to where hell is in order to explain it.

Hell, where your wrath is.

Heaven where your home is,

and earth, where I live right now,

your footstool.

I’ve made huge mistakes of late

Ones which I vehemently hate

And someday I will relate

that I was a fool, the greatest one of all.

Lord, You’ve seen those mistakes

And that I’ve been acting like a fake

You aren’t sending me to hell

In spite of all that I’ve done.

Because I’ve realized what I’ve done

Your heart was won.

My slate is clean,

because I’m trusting in Your love.

Now all feels right again,

And I know I have been forgiven.

Now it’s your turn, dear friend.

Are you bearing the weight of your sins?

Put the full weight on Him

I promise then you’ll win

Eternal life, but most of all, Him.

“’Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.’” – Luke 2:14

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” – Philippians 2:10-11

As a final note, “confess” and “repent” have two different meanings. “Confess” means to admit to God you have done wrong. “Repent” means to change your mind completely about your sin and decide to never do it again, and to mean it. God will forgive us as soon as we confess, but if we change our mind again and decide to do it again, He will change His mind too, and He will not forgive us.
